The full statement reads; "EA Sports is committed to taking action to maintain a culture of inclusivity and equity. Due to the circumstances surrounding Jon Gruden's resignation, we are taking steps to remove him from Madden NFL 22. We will be replacing him with a generic portrait in the next few weeks (in-game) through an update.

This is not the first time EA has removed an individual from a Madden NFL game. Previously, it cut Ray Rice from Madden NFL 15 and even Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25.
